Navipox Nova 7500 (HB) Novalac Epoxy

Navipox Nova 7500 (HB) Novalac Epoxy

FEATURES

  • Suitable for use in new construction as well as repair and maintenance.
  • Resistant up to 180°C.
  • According to TS EN ISO 6272-2 Standard, no deterioration was observed on a metal specimen coated at 0.47 mm dry film thickness when a 1,100 g weight was dropped from 40 cm height. A 1,500 g weight dropped under the same conditions caused only slight surface deterioration.
  • Recommended for use where excellent chemical resistance against salt, fresh water, petroleum products, crude oil, alkalis and weak acids is required, especially in heavy industrial atmospheres.
  • Suitable for use on the inner surfaces of pipes transporting crude oil.

RECOMMENDED USES

Navipox NOVA 7500 is a novolac (phenolic) epoxy based, two-component, modified phenolic polyamine hardener cured, high-solids coating with excellent adhesion, mechanical resistance, and outstanding resistance to water, chemicals and solvents. It can be cured at low temperatures and can be used as primer, intermediate coat and top coat. Suitable for thick single-coat application (Thixotropic).

  • Petroleum refineries
  • Waste water treatment plants
  • Power plants
  • Petrochemical facilities
  • Chemical storage facilities
  • Solvent tanks

Surface Preparation

All surfaces to be painted must be clean, dry and free of all contaminants. For optimum results, ambient temperature should be between -5°C and 35°C. Application should not be carried out when relative humidity exceeds 90%. To prevent condensation, surface temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point. Increased material consumption should be expected in windy conditions. Surface temperature must be at least -5°C and not exceed 45°C. New metal surfaces: oil and grease should be removed with detergent or steam, and salts and other contaminants removed with high-pressure fresh water. Rust and burrs should be removed by blasting to Sa 2½. For small tanks and storage facilities where surface preparation and painting can be completed on the same day, the product can be applied directly without a primer. For applications where surface preparation continues over several days, a novolac blasting primer at approximately 40 mic. DFT should be applied to protect the cleaned and roughened surfaces. Concrete surfaces: if the surface is hard and rough, abrasive blasting should be performed until a uniform surface is obtained, or if not possible, other mechanical methods or acid etching should be used, followed by cleaning with pressurised fresh water. The surface must be clean and dry before application.

Mixing and Thinning

Navimar NOVA 7500 should be stirred thoroughly before use. Then mix with its own hardener at the correct mixing ratio to obtain a homogeneous mixture. If required, thin with T-10 epoxy thinner (thinning ratio: 0.5–5%). To achieve a homogeneous mixture, ensure paint temperature is between 15°C and 25°C.

Application

The prepared mixture should rest for 10–15 minutes before application and must be used within 2–3 hours (at 20°C). Personnel performing the application should use a fresh air supply mask. Explosion-proof (ex-proof) equipment should be used inside tanks to prevent fire hazard. For optimum results, the minimum recoating interval is 14 hours and maximum is 10 days. If the maximum recoating time is exceeded, the surface should be roughened. If the surface has been left in a contaminated environment for a long time, it should be washed with high-pressure fresh water and allowed to dry before recoating.

Safety Precautions

Read the MSDS Material Safety Data Sheet for all necessary safety rules and warnings. Minimum safety requirements: skin and eye contact must be prevented (use gloves, protective goggles, face mask and industrial barrier cream). Adequate air circulation must be provided (during application and until the paint is dry). If paint contacts skin, wash with lukewarm water and soap or an industrial cleaner. If splashed in eyes, rinse with water for at least 10 minutes and seek medical attention. These materials contain flammable components — keep away from sparks and open flames. Smoking in the area is not permitted. Read all cautionary notices on the containers carefully and follow the recommended working procedures.
