RECOMMENDED USES
Specially formulated to provide optimum protection of steel against corrosion in all vinyl systems. Recommended where resistance to water immersion, splash, inorganic acid fumes and spills is required.

Surface Preparation
For immersion service: The substrate must be abrasive blasted to a minimum Swedish Standard Sa 2½ before priming with Navi-Vinyl-50.
For direct application to metal: Remove water, salts, contaminants, oil and loose rust and mill scale from the surface. For non-immersion service, the minimum standard is SSPC-SP-6 or D Sa2; for immersion service, SSPC-SP-10 or D Sa2½. After blasting, steel surface profile should be 40–60 mic.
When used as a tie coat after an anticorrosive coating and before antifouling paint, the surface must be dust-free and clean before painting.
Mixing and Thinning
Stir thoroughly with a mechanical mixer until homogeneous and fluid. Thinning is not normally required or preferred; however, at very demanding weather conditions, small amounts (10% or less) of T-10 thinner may be added. Stir thoroughly after any solvent addition.
Application
Conventional spray method: Graco 800 gun with 0.07″–0.086″ tip (De Vilbiss E or D nozzle) or larger provides good atomisation. Fluid pressure at nozzle should be kept low at around 1 bar. Excessive pressure causes overspray. Suitable moisture and oil traps should be in the air supply line.
Airless spray application: Graco Bulldog minimum 30/1 ratio pump is recommended. Nozzle diameter 0.017″–0.019″, liquid pressure 160 Kg/cm². Fluid hose inner diameter minimum 3/8″, length not exceeding 15 m excluding short whip hose. For longer hoses select larger inner diameter.
Navi-Vinyl can also be applied by brush or roller. Careful attention to uniform thickness is essential. Several coats may be needed for touch-up work. Good ventilation is essential when painting tanks and enclosed spaces (consult Navimare-PX technical service).
Safety Precautions
Read the MSDS Material Safety Data Sheet for all required safety rules and warnings. Minimum requirements: prevent skin and eye contact (gloves, protective goggles, face mask and industrial barrier cream). Ensure adequate air circulation (during application and until paint is dry). If paint contacts skin, wash with lukewarm water and soap. If splashed in eyes, rinse with water for at least 10 minutes and seek medical attention. Keep away from sparks and open flames — do not permit smoking in the area. Carefully read all cautionary notices on containers.
